CANPAD Presidents Letter 2014

Dear CANPAD Members,                              Dec. 27, 2014

I hope you and your families are having a Wonderful Holiday Season.

CANPAD continues to keep to our vision and purpose and I believe that we have had a wonderful 2014. One of the highlights was the CME/ Family event in Saskatoon. The ladies night was a great success and the issues that plague newcomers and in particular disruptive/divisive issues that adversely affect the family units were discussed.

I am delighted to inform our members that CANPAD continues to be involved with The Nigerian Ministry of Health, Diaspora Unit. We were represented at the last Joint Technical Meeting in Abuja, in Nov. 2014 by Dr. Uche Nwadike. Also present were other Nigerian Foreign Doctor’s Associations, including MANSAG (Medical Association of Nigerians and Great Britain) and ANPA (Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas). These organizations are also contributing to the medical schools in Nigeria. The CANPAD executives will continue to review these findings and consider how CANPAD can become more involved in the activities of Diaspora Unit.

I attended the MANSAG conference in Cardiff, Wales, in October. It was very informative, and it was evident how involved this association has been with the Nigerian Ministry of Health and Nigerian medical schools. Some of our members have been involved with medical missions to Nigeria and I am hopeful that we would be able to expand our involvement.

Plans are already under way for our next CME/family event in Montreal, Quebec from July 30th departing August 3rd. Please keep these dates free, so we can have another beautiful get-together. We are hoping that our members turn out in full force for this event. Please pass on this information to others who have not yet joined our association.

The planning committee is working diligently to ensure we have another wonderful event. The hotel location has not been finalized.  Further information about the hotel and the cost of other activities at our CME event will be forwarded once decisions are finalized. Detailed information will also be posted on our website.

I would like to remind our members that annual dues are due. Our membership annual dues remain at $350 and the CME fee at $400. Please forward your payment early, to allow the planning to conduct its business.

Members can pay online with PayPal at www.canpad.org.  You can print you receipt from Paypal immediately following your transaction. If paying by cheque, please make it payable to CANPAD and mail it to our Treasurer:
